IT outsourcing and SDGs I: SDG 3 - Health and well-being

The United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an ambitious plan to improve the world by 2030.
In our blog post “Social and sustainable IT outsourcing: How can we contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGS) together with our customers?“, we have already provided an overview of the SDGs.
Now we want to delve a little deeper into the topic and take a very specific look at the significance of the individual SGDs with regard to IT outsourcing.

One of the central goals is SDG 3 – Health and Wellbeing.
In principle, social and sustainable IT outsourcing can help to promote the health and well-being of employees and thus contribute to a more sustainable world.
What exactly can this approach achieve?

Healthy working environment:

Social and sustainable IT outsourcing relies on a healthy working environment.
This means not only ergonomic workstations and safe office buildings, but also a culture of recognition and care for employees.
A positive working environment helps to reduce stress and thus promote physical and mental well-being.

Access to health services:

Another important aspect is access to health services.
Many employees in our target area in India do not have health insurance.
Our IT outsourcing model ensures that employees have adequate access to healthcare, e.g. employer-paid health insurance that also covers family members if desired.
This means that employees have adequate medical care without having to overcome financial hurdles.

Increase in productivity:

Better physical and mental health, achieved through good working conditions and adequate health care for employees, leads to fewer absences due to illness.
This in turn helps to increase productivity in the company.
Healthy employees are more committed, motivated and productive.
They help to ensure that projects are completed more efficiently and thus contribute to the economic success of the company.

Social and sustainable IT outsourcing is therefore not just a business model aimed at financial gain, but can also make a significant contribution to SDG 3 – Health and Wellbeing.
It creates a healthy working environment, provides access to health services and, as a result, increases productivity.
Responsible IT outsourcing therefore ultimately benefits everyone involved.
